IIF Insight - Chile: Runoff for President to Be Very Close

Opposition candidate Sebastián Piñera received 44 percent of the vote, 14 points ahead of ruling-coalition candidate Eduardo Frei in the first round of the presidential election. The result of the runoff depends on the ability of Piñera and Frei to attract the anti-establishment vote of the second runner-up, Marcos Enríquez-Ominami.
