We are pleased to announce the success of the 2009 IIF Spring Membership Meeting held June 10-12 at the China World Hotel in Beijing, China and co-hosted by the Bank of China.

The meeting began on Wednesday, June 10, with a special session on economic and financial conditions in China, followed by a welcome reception. The official program began on Thursday, June 11 with economic presentations from the IIF economic team. Afternoon sessions featured a special roundtable discussion focusing on The Role of Chinese Banks in Sustaining Economic Growth and the Next Phase of Financial Services Reform in China and special briefings on emerging market and regulatory issues. The evening's festivities included a cocktail reception and opening dinner, featuring a keynote address from the Honorable Paul A. Volcker, Chairman, President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board (PERAB), former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve System.

Friday morning included several panel discussions and special addresses on pressing issues in the world economy, including keynote addresses by Chairman Liu Mingkang of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Mr. Jin Liqun, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, China Investment Corporation, and Mr. George Soros, Chairman of Soros Fund Management. We closed the evening with a keynote address from His Excellency Han Seung-soo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea.
