The IIF 30th Anniversary Membership Meeting has now concluded. The meeting was held Thursday, October 11 through Saturday, October 13 at the Palace Hotel Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan, in conjunction with the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank and is also an occasion to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the IIF.
The program was attended by an influential audience from throughout the global financial community, including many of the world’s leading bankers, policymakers, and investors. We are pleased to have the support of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Mizuho Financial Group, Inc., and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. as the Lead Sponsors for the meeting and the strong support of the government of Japan in staging their first-ever full IIF Membership Meeting in Japan. The program agenda was designed to appeal to our international membership while also having sessions focusing on the Asia/Pacific region and Japan in particular. The program featured a session aimed at providing an update on Japan’s recovery, exploring approaches in coping with natural disasters, and discussing the opportunities and challenges ahead for Japan. Three other sessions in the program discussed the global outlook and risks; the lessons learned from the European sovereign debt crisis; and the issues raised by “too-big-to-fail.” The program also devoted a session to the Asia/Pacific region’s outlook and growing role in the global economy.
