2012 IIF Spring Membership Meeting

June 6-8, 2012, Copenhagen, Denmark

The 2012 IIF Spring Membership Meeting was held from Wednesday, June 6 through Friday, June 8 at the Tivoli Congress Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. We were delighted to have the support of Danske Bank, DNB, Nordea, and SEB as lead sponsors of the world’s leading bankers, investors, insurers, and policymakers attended what has become the pre-eminent annual private sector event in the global financial calendar.

The meeting brought together more than 800 bankers, investors, insurers, and policymakers, offering perspectives and opinions from leaders in the worlds of banking, finance, and politics. We were delighted to welcome keynote addresses from Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Polish Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski; European Commissioner Michel Barnier, former Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos, and Portuguese Finance Minister Vítor Gaspar.
The program began with special briefing sessions on risk management and governance, regulatory oversight of credit rating agencies and consequences for capital markets, and a strengthened framework for sovereign debt crises resolution The program continued with presentations from the IIF economics team The evening’s festivities were held at the Kronborg Castle and featured a reception and opening dinner with a special tribute to Josef Ackerman.

On Thursday, June 7, the program began with addresses from the IIF Managing Director Charles Dallara and Chairman Douglas Flint and featured a special Nordic finance minister session. The program continued with discussions on the global outlook and risks, the impact of the new regulatory regime, and the new challenges facing Europe. The evening featured a reception and dinner with a keynote address.

On Friday, June 8, the program began with a special interview session on the “Arab Spring” and continued with discussions on energy and the environment and banking business models for the future. The meeting concluded with a closing luncheon and keynote address.
