16th Annual Meeting of MENA Bank Chief Executives

The 2013 IIF MENA CEO Meeting will take place in Doha, Qatar on February 22-23, 2013, hosted by Mr. Ali Sherif Al Emadi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Qatar National Bank.

The meeting is the IIF’s highest-level gathering of financial leaders in the region, attracting about 100 CEOs and senior executives of the leading financial institutions, as well as policymakers and representatives of global firms active in the MENA region. The format is a roundtable to allow for a free and interactive exchange of views following brief presentations by top-level experts on the relevant topics.

The meeting begins with a reception and dinner on the evening of Friday, February 23, featuring Dr. Josef Ackermann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zurich Insurance Group Ltd and former Chairman of the IIF Board of Directors, as a keynote speaker. The second day’s proceedings will begin with the opening keynote speech by H.E. Yousef Hussein Kamal, Minister of Finance of Qatar. This will be followed by a presentation by Hung Tran, Deputy Managing Director and Counselor of the IIF, on the global financial markets and a MENA regional overview by George T. Abed, Senior Counselor and Director for Africa and the Middle East of the IIF. Three roundtable discussions on the risks and opportunities deriving from the “Arab Spring,” deepening financial markets in the MENA region, and financial regulatory reform with implications for MENA banks will follow. The luncheon keynote speaker will be Paul Horsnell, Managing Director and Head of Commodities Research, Barclays.
