Effective Regulation in the Transatlantic Marketplace

June 27, 2007, Frankfurt, Germany

Following this week's landmark announcement by the United States and the European Union creating a 'Framework for Advancing Transatlantic Economic Integration' , the Institute of International Finance (IIF) is pleased to announce our upcoming symposium, Effective Regulation in the Transatlantic Marketplace.

This IIF Open Program will take place in Frankfurt on June 27, 2007 and is organized in cooperation with the Association of German Banks (Bundesverband deutscher Banken). IIF Managing Director Charles Dallara will travel to Germany to chair this meeting. Josef Ackermann, Chairman of the IIF and the Management Board and Group Executive of Deutsche Bank, and Klaus-Peter Mueller, President of the Association of German Banks and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors at Commerzbank, will address this symposium.

The agenda will focus on transatlantic markets in the context of the IIF's recent publication Proposal for a Strategic Dialogue on Effective Regulation. Themes will include topical issues such as cross-border supervision, competition among global financial centers, anti-money laundering legislation, enforcement, global accounting standards, cross-border implementation of Basel II, as well as emerging themes such as the regulation of hedge funds.

Germany's Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Mirow will deliver the Opening Keynote Address. Our distinguished speakers include Jochen Sanio, President, Federal Financial Supervisory Authority of Germany (BaFin); Arthur Angulo, Senior Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Tom Jones, Vice Chairman, International Accounting Standards Board (IASB); Ethiopis Tafara, Director, Office of International Affairs, US Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), and Philippe Richard, Secretary General, International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

We encourage you and your firm to join us in Frankfurt this June for this timely meeting. Details can be found in the Frankfurt Brochure. It contains an agenda, registration form, and hotel information.
