IIF Announces Future Leaders Class of 2021

February 11, 2021

The 2021 cohort brings together 50 high-achieving individuals with demonstrated leadership potential from 48 financial institutions around the world.

WASHINGTON DC – The Institute of International Finance (IIF) announced today the new IIF Future Leaders Class of 2021. Participants were nominated by their firms based on a track record of achievement within their institution and their potential, in the nominating institution’s view, to become a leader in global finance.

“Needless to say, it’s been a challenging year, characterized by enormous uncertainty and disruption. Accordingly, cultivating leadership skills in our industry’s young professionals is now more critical than ever,” said IIF President and CEO Tim Adams. “We look forward to welcoming the 2021 cohort, which includes some of the industry’s best and brightest from around the globe, and providing them with guidance from key industry leaders and exposure to new innovations and thinking as they face the ever-evolving challenges of a post-COVID world.”

The Future Leaders program was established in 2014 by the IIF’s Board of Directors to recognize early- and mid-career financial services professionals with high leadership potential, and to build connections between rising stars from different regions and backgrounds. The Class of 2021 consists of 50 individuals from 48 IIF member institutions. It is a diverse group from 24 countries, representing a wide variety of functional areas, including risk management, corporate strategy, sustainable finance, legal affairs, and digital banking and innovation.

In conjunction with the launch of the 2021 program, the IIF today has also published a Future Leaders podcast, featuring interviews with members of the Class of 2020. The class members recount their experience in the first virtual year of the program, their career journey so far, and what led them to being recognized as a future leader. Season one of the IIF Future Leaders Podcast Series is available on Spotify or wherever you find podcasts.
