July 12, 2013

Washington D.C., July 12, 2013 - Institute of International Finance (IIF) President and CEO Tim Adams today announced two additions to the senior management team. Charles Collyns will join the Institute on August 26 as Managing Director and Chief Economist. Corrie Shanahan will join the Institute on November 1 as Managing Director, Global Communications and Marketing.

"I am incredibly excited to welcome Charles and Corrie to the IIF, and am grateful they have agreed to bring their insight and knowledge to my growing senior management team," said Mr. Adams. "Charles Collyns has been at the forefront of international financial and economic policy for the better part of the past two decades-most recently at the U.S. Treasury Department. His ability to assess and anticipate the macroeconomic environment and its relation to the global financial system will be invaluable to the IIF's mission and our members."

"Corrie Shanahan brings to us more than 20 years of extensive international communications experience in both the public and private sectors," Mr Adams said. "I'm looking forward to having her lead our efforts to elevate the IIF's profile as the leading global financial sector organization. Our members count on the Institute being an authoritative and effective voice in policymaking, and we're counting on Corrie to help us fulfill that role."

Collyns and Shanahan will join an updated senior management team, comprised of Hung Tran, Executive Managing Director; Kevin Nixon, Managing Director, Regulatory Affairs; Kristen Silverberg, General Counsel and Senior Advisor; George Abed, Senior Counselor and Director, Middle East/Africa; and Barrie Orellana, Senior Director, Finance and Administration.

"Charles and Corrie join a talented senior management team," Mr. Adams said. "Their combined insight, knowledge and ideas as a group are indispensable not only to me but also to our members as the IIF charts its path forward."

Charles Collyns most recently served as U.S. Assistant Treasury Secretary for International Finance, a post he held since February 2010. In that capacity, he was responsible for leading Treasury's work on international monetary policy, international financial institutions, coordination with the G7/G8 and G20, and regional and bilateral economic issues, including participation in the U.S. - China economic dialogues. Previously, Collyns served as Deputy Director of the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he headed the team responsible for the World Economic Outlook report. Prior to joining the Research Department in 2006, he held a number of other positions at the IMF, including holding responsibility for its work on Japan from 1997 to 2001, the United States from 2001 to 2003, and Brazil from 2004 to 2006.

Corrie Shanahan joins the IIF from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, where she was Head of External Communications & Chief Spokesperson. In that capacity, she led global external communications for IFC, including media relations, brand marketing and events, crisis communications, and social and online media. She joined IFC in 2002, when she served as Chief, Media & Marketing, until 2008.
