Joanne Marsden is a Deputy Secretary General of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, located in Basel, Switzerland. Her current areas of focus include supervisory practices and banking supervisory issues, including through engagement with non-member authorities via the Basel Consultative Group, and climate-related financial risks. Joanne has held a variety of senior leadership positions in the banking industry in both the public and private sector. She joined the Basel Committee Secretariat in 2020 from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) Canada, where she was a member of the senior management team in OSFI’s regulation sector. After joining OSFI in 2008, she led various teams responsible for financial and non-financial policy development and implementation, regulatory approvals and bank licensing, and inter-governmental affairs. Prior to joining OSFI, she was a Vice President in Risk Control at a large bank, where she spent more than eight years in various management roles.
