Rachel Elwell

Rachel joined Border to Coast as CEO in November 2017 with over twenty years’ experience of working in pensions and institutional investment, both as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and, latterly, as Staff Pensions and Investment Office Director at Royal London. Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, one of the UK's largest pension pools, went live in July 2018 and is now responsible for managing nearly £40bn of assets on behalf of its Partner Funds. It has committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050 or sooner, and published its full roadmap to achieving this ambition in September 2022. Rachel sits on the Board of the Investment Association, the UK asset management industry’s trade body, and the Board of Opera North. A Cambridge maths graduate, Rachel is a qualified actuary and member of the Institute of Directors.
