Michael Faulend, PhD, was born on 25 May 1974 in Zagreb, where he graduated in 1997 from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Analysis Study Program, and in 2002 he received his Master's Degree at the postgraduate studies ''International Economy''. He got employed in the Croatian National Bank in October 1997 in the Research Department. In the period from 2001 to 2003 he was Assistant to the Executive Director of the IMF Dutch Constituency. After returning to the CNB he continued his work in the Research Department as advisor, and on 1 April 2004 he was appointed Executive Director of the International Affairs Area. He is the author of several scholarly papers on economic issues. Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament, Michael Faulend was appointed Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank on 5 July 2013. He was reappointed for his second six-year term of office as vicegovernor on 12 July 2019. Vicegovernor Faulend coordinates and manages the International Relations Area.
