IIF Comments on FSB FinTech Report

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) published its report, FinTech and market structure in financial services: Market developments and potential financial stability implications on February 14, and the IIF is pleased to provide some comments.

We believe the FSB’s report rightly identified the major policy issues, and that it is a very constructive contribution to the policy discussions. In commending the FSB for this analysis, we also identify two specific areas that we believe can be further explored, as topics for further analysis namely (i) data-sharing frameworks, and their potential impacts on competition, and (ii) the development of new tools for identifying and responding to rapid market shifts.

Our comment letter highlights these issues, with some suggested next steps, where the IIF is keen to work together with the FSB and other stakeholders in pursuing these important issues.
