DataTalk - Briefing Note 21 - Web 3.0 and DeFi

The January session of the IIF’s DataTalk series explored Web 3.0 and related elements of decentralized finance (DeFi) in the provision of financial services, particularly as market participants consider the infrastructure required to offer their services in the coming years. The call covered key topics such as the importance of accurately defining DeFi and Web 3.0 activities and use cases for FIs and other industry stakeholders, the role of regulation in these spaces, and the state of existing infrastructure and opportunities on the path forward. This note provides a summary of the discussion, respecting that the conversation was conducted under Chatham House Rule and comments are unattributed.

Our DataTalk series will continue later this month on Wednesday, February 22 at 9:00 AM Washington DC / 2:00 PM London, where we will focus on digital wallets and digital identity in the context of increasing competition for direct contact with customers.

DataTalk is our community of practice to bring together data officers and experts for interactive sessions on key data topics in financial services.
