FRT Episode 134: Emerging Technologies and Infrastructure - Views from Asia Pacific

In this episode of FRT, Yue Hong Zhang of Boston Consulting Group (Hong Kong) and Daniel Wu of Amazon Web Services (APAC) discuss emerging technologies and the future of financial infrastructure, including the development of cloud, artificial intelligence, digital assets, blockchain technology, and the policy environment shaping the adoption of these technologies in the Asia Pacific region.

As Partner at BCG, Yue Hong leads the firm’s Digital Asset & Web3 capability center in Asia Pacific, which develops the firm’s expertise in emerging digital topics. He advises companies on their Web3 and blockchain strategies, and more broadly, on their investments in digital assets and related technologies.

As AWS’ Head of Financial Services Public Policy for Asia Pacific, Daniel works with public sector clients to support digital transformation of financial services using the cloud. Specifically, Daniel drives AWS’ public policy and government affairs strategies as they pertain to the banking, payments, capital markets, and insurance sectors.

Finance and technology have always had a symbiotic relationship. Yue Hong and Daniel discuss the top technologies that, in their view, will be most important for financial services in the coming year, as well as policymaker attitudes toward their development. It is difficult to overstate the transformational nature of cloud and AI on the conduct of financial services. Where will we see these technologies continue to shape the landscape from here?
