FRT Podcast Episode 1: US Treasury FinTech Report

Monday, August 6, 2018
We are pleased to launch "˜FRT', the IIF's new podcast on the intersection of Finance, Regulation and Technological innovation. This podcast will convey the IIF's insights on emerging trends and the evolving regulatory landscape in digital innovation.

To kick things off, our inaugural episode looks at the US Treasury's report on Nonbank Financials, Fintech, and Innovation, a report published last week that assesses the effectiveness of current FinTech-related regulations. We discuss key items in the report including:
  • Support for innovative technologies such as Cloud & Machine Learning
  • Regulatory requirements for 3rd party vendors, including FinTech partners
  • Digital identity
  • OCC FinTech Charter
  • Data Sharing & Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
In the coming weeks on FRT, subsequent episodes will look at data sharing frameworks and cloud computing, both subjects of recent IIF publications, as well as the continuation of the IIF's industry surveys on the adoption of Machine Learning as part of banks and insurers' Risk Management practices. We will also do some episodes on the road, sharing the takeaways from events such as the IIF Annual Membership meeting in Bali and our Digital Finance Regulation Symposium in Brussels.
