Speech by Lynn Patterson, Deputy Governor, Bank of Canada

The National Club, 303 Bay Street, Toronto

Main Dining Room

The Deputy Governor’s speech was about the “benchmark revolution”—highlighting the fact that interest rate benchmarks are at the core of modern financial systems and as such need to be reliable and resilient. She discussed ongoing work to strengthen Libor and similar benchmarks and to develop possible alternatives, including for the Canadian dollar market. Following her remarks, there was a Q&A period with the audience. Lunch also was served as part of the program.
