Gregory Basile

Associate Economist

Gregory Basile is an Associate Economist in the Economic Research Department. Prior to joining the IIF, Greg developed his career at the International Monetary Fund in its Strategy, Policy, and Review Department as well as the Middle East and Central Asia Department. While at the IMF, his work focused on reforming IMF post-program monitoring; country work including missions to Palestine focusing on the informal sector and public debt sustainability; and MENA regional issues such as public wage bills and energy subsidy reform. His main area of interest is macroeconomic research with a focus on the external sector and balance of payments.

Education

Greg holds a Master in Public Policy degree, with a focus on International Economics and Security, from the University of Maryland. He also holds Magna Cum Laude degrees in History and International Affairs from the University of Georgia.
