Economist

Benjamin Hilgenstock is an Economist in the Economic Research Department. Prior to joining the IIF, Benjamin spent two years at the International Monetary Fund’s Research Department, working on analytical chapters of the World Economic Outlook. Before that, he developed his career in the think tank sector in Washington, DC. His main area of interest is macroeconomic research with a focus on economic challenges arising from technological progress and deepening global integration.

Education

Benjamin holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science with minors in Economics and Constitutional Law from Johannes Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany). He also spent a semester at American University in Washington, DC, studying American politics, and two years at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD as a visiting research scholar. Benjamin is fluent in English and German.
