Vusal Shahverdiyev

Vusal Shahverdiyev is a Director of the Strategy Office at ABB Bank (the International Bank of Azerbaijan). He has over 15 years of experience in the banking sector in strategy, transformation, finance, and operational management in retail and corporate directions. As a Director of the Strategy Office, Mr. Shahverdiyev leads the implementation of sustainability initiatives within the Bank, has formulated and enabled the implementation of the strategic initiatives for the Bank’s accelerated growth strategy 2023-2025. Concurrently, Mr. Shahverdiyev is the Chairman of the ESG & Sustainable Banking expert group of Azerbaijan Banks Associations and the Member of the Supervisory Board of Azericard, the first processing center in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Before joining ABB, Mr. Shahverdiyev held various positions in several banks (Board member, CSO, CFO, CTO, Head of lending products development). He was also a member of the Supervisory Board of an investment company. Mr. Shahverdiyev graduated from Azerbaijan State Oil Academy and received relevant qualifications from Duke University (The Fuqua School of Business) and Columbia University (Columbia Business School), possessing a solid foundation in adaptive strategic execution and driving strategic impact.
