IIF to support organizations providing disaster relief to Morocco earthquake survivors

The Institute of International Finance (IIF), the global association of the financial industry representing about 400 leading financial institutions from more than 60 countries, will hold its 2023 Annual Membership Meeting (AMM) in Marrakech, Morocco and online from Oct. 12-14.

The three-day program will be an opportunity for IIF’s members to hear from some of the most compelling thought leaders across the financial services industry, as well as engage with peers and clients in a transformational market. Confirmed speakers include central bank governors, policymakers, and prominent financial-industry executives. An up-to-date event agenda can be found here.

“We're pleased to be able to proceed with holding our 2023 Annual Membership Meeting in the vibrant city of Marrakech, particularly at a time when our mission of fostering financial stability and sustainable growth is more critical than ever,” said IIF President and CEO Tim Adams. “The global financial industry is the engine of economic growth and resilience. And this year, our mission takes on an added layer of significance following the tragic earthquake in Morocco.”

Following the deadly earthquake in the region in early September, IIF will offer opportunities throughout its program to support local vendors and artisans in the Marrakesh community.

IIF is also pleased to announce World Central Kitchen as the official charity of its 2023 Annual Membership Meeting, and will be encouraging donations to its relief efforts in Morocco.

“We thank IIF and the global financial community for supporting World Central Kitchen in our effort to provide meals and relief to the people of Morocco impacted by this devastating earthquake,” said Maggie Leahy, Director, Donor Relations, World Central Kitchen. “WCK’s Relief Team was on the ground within hours of the disaster, using any means necessary to reach the hardest hit areas to provide immediate support. And we’ll continue to provide fresh meals on the front lines. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.”

“We thank the people of Morocco for their hospitality, and we continue to hold all those impacted by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers,” said Adams. “In addition to supporting the local economy through much-needed tourism revenue, we are proud to collaborate with World Central Kitchen to encourage attendees to contribute directly to disaster relief efforts.”

All IIF AMM programming is on-the-record and will be broadcast live online for attendees who prefer to participate online. Members of the press are welcome to attend online or in person.
