We were pleased to host the 2022 IIF EM Sustainable Finance Summit, which was convened online on Thursday, September 15. The Summit built on the tremendous success of our 2021 and 2022 IIF Sustainable Finance Summits and provided an opportunity for the IIF to address the most critical issues facing emerging markets. Topic coverage included sessions on the road to net-zero, financing the transition, natural capital and biodiversity, the need for global coordination, and the IIF’s hallmark “Views from the C-Suite.”

Promoting sustainable capital flows to emerging economies is a growing priority for the global investment community, bringing together public and private sectors to catalyze climate and environmental finance, promote good governance, and support broader development goals. Ahead of COP27–the first global climate conference to be held in Africa—this event looked at the fast-changing landscape for investment flows to emerging markets, as well as new initiatives to build ESG markets and mobilize capital. With demand for sustainable investments expected to surge over the next decade, and a wide range of investment opportunities to be tapped in emerging and developing economies, how can policymakers, development finance, and private investors best collaborate to support these goals?
