As part of the IIF's Digital Finance Webinar Series, we were delighted to host the Bank of England Central Bank Digital Currency Discussion Paper webinar, which took place on Monday, May 11.

The Bank of England discussion paper Central Bank Digital Currency - Opportunities, Challenges and Design was published on March 12, examining what a potential CBDC might look like, with a detailed and considered outline of a potential platform model. Significantly, this focuses primarily on the application of a CBDC for domestic and retail payments, with the Bank of England evaluating the net benefits to households and businesses from launching such a platform.

This webinar featured a presentation by Tom Mutton, Director of FinTech, and Manisha Patel, Senior Analyst Central Bank Digital Currencies, Bank of England.
