On Thursday, April 23, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am EDT we hosted the first webcast in a series of discussions focused on China. During this installment, we concentrated on China’s macroeconomic environment, near-term fiscal and monetary outlook, and recently enacted government policies. How will we gauge China’s recovery? Have Beijing’s policies been effective, and what else might be in the pipeline? Will there be a trade-off between economic stimulus and rising debt levels? These and other questions were tackled by Gene Ma, IIF Head of China Research, who moderated the event, and featured: Ms. Wei Yao, Chief Asia/China Economist, Société Generale; Mr. Shuang Ding, Chief Economist, Great China & North Asia, Standard Chartered Bank; and Mr. Andy Rothman, Investment Strategist, Matthews Asia.
