We are pleased to partner with Fitch Ratings for our upcoming IIF Global Debt Monitor, to be held on Wednesday, September 25.
Held during New York Climate Week and the UN General Assembly, the program will begin with a concise presentation from our staff, summarizing the key insights from our flagship report, "Global Debt Monitor: Beware of Hidden Debt Risks." Following the presentation, a panel of experts will delve into the growing challenges surrounding deteriorating government debt dynamics in both mature and emerging market - and the risk these pose for global growth, productivity and the climate agenda.
The discussion will explore the potential outcomes of the U.S. Presidential elections and their implications for global debt markets, with a particular focus on cross-border investment trends in emerging markets. The panel will also provide insights into the future capacity of debt markets to support climate finance; in this context we will examine the range of initiatives underway to improve the investment environment in emerging and developing economies (EMDEs) - including ongoing efforts to enhance investor relations practices. We will also highlight the work of the Impact Disclosure Taskforce, which promotes the measurement and reporting of corporate and sovereign progress on reaching climate and broader sustainable development goals. Such Impact disclosure will help galvanize international private capital flows for transition finance, notably for EMDEs.
