As Treasurer, Jason is responsible for enterprise-wide capital, liquidity, and asset-liability management, including execution of term funding and capital transactions, funds transfer pricing, management of RBC’s pension assets, and structural interest rate risk management. He also oversees capital investments in, and funding to, RBC’s subsidiaries as well as the activities of major local Treasuries. Jason joined RBC in 1997 as a derivatives credit analyst and in 2002 became Managing Director, Global Middle Office, where he was responsible for derivatives market risk oversight in Canada and global derivatives credit risk measurement and portfolio analysis. In 2005, he became Managing Director and Head, Market Risk Toronto, responsible for market risk oversight of the Canadian trading operations. After the Financial Crisis, Jason became head of Enterprise Market Risk and was responsible for implementation of post crisis reforms including heightened oversight for non-trading market risk and liquidity risk. In 2014, Jason was named Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk & Chief Operating Officer, GRM, where he was responsible for leading the strategic management of risk, including the definition and quantification of RBC’s risk appetite, ensuring financial resiliency, identification and management of emerging risk, measurement of credit risk and RBC’s risk framework and policy. Most recently, Jason served as Executive Vice President, Retail & Commercial Risk, leading a number of teams that provide the primary risk management support to RBC’s Insurance, Wealth Management and Personal and Commercial Banking (P&CB) businesses. Jason is a Director of Symcor, the United Nations Association in Canada, and a number of RBC’s funding subsidiaries. Jason holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Physics) and MBA in Finance from McMaster University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He and his wife live in Toronto and have two children.
