Giovanni Sabatini, General Manager of the Italian Banking Association (ABI) since 2009, was appointed as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the European Banking Federation for a two-year term from January 2016 and was re-elected for a further term of office starting from January 2018. He has been the Chair of the EBF Strategy for Financing Sustainable Growth since 2020. He is also member of the European Economic and Social Committee, Vice President of Bancomat S.p.A., Vice President of CBI S.p.c.a, member of the Board of Directors of Fondo Italiano di Investimento (Italian Investment Fund) and Fondo Interbancario di Tutela dei Depositi, member of the Italian Corporate Governance Committee and member of the Advisory Committee of Borsa Italiana (Italian Stock Exchange), of which he was Chairman from July 2009 to 2014. From June 2008 to June 2009, he worked for CONSOB (the supervisory authority for the Italian financial products market), serving as Director of the Issuer Division. From June 2006 to May 2008, he served as Head of the Banking and Financial System-Legal Affairs Directorate at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. During this period, Giovanni Sabatini was the Ministry's representative on the Consiglio Superiore of the Bank of Italy, as well as a member of the board of Alitalia - Linee Aeree Italiane S.p.A., member of the Strategic Committee of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (the National PromotionaInstitution) and member of the Strategic Committee for the Italian Financial Market. From September 2004 to May 2006, he was Director of the Intermediaries Division at CONSOB. From 2001 to 2004 he was also CEO of Monte Titoli S.p.A (a company owned by the Italian Stock Exchange Group) and Chairman of ECSDA (the European Central Securities Depositories Association). Giovanni Sabatini graduated cum laude in Economics and Business from the LUISS University in Rome and, from 2009 to 2015, he was a fixed term professor of Business Financial Analysis at the Faculty of Management Engineering of the Sapienza University in Rome.
