Andreas Billmeier

Andreas is the Chief European Economist at Brevan Howard, a leading alternative investment manager. Before joining Brevan Howard in September 2022, Andreas was, since 2019, the European economist and a member of the macro investment committee at Western Asset Management Company (WAMCO), a leading active fixed income manager. Previously, between 2014 and 2019, he built the economic research group at Stone Milliner Asset Management LLP, a global macro hedge fund. Before moving to London in 2014, Andreas worked for six years at Ziff Brothers Investments (ZBI), an investment firm headquartered in New York. He started his career as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2002. Andreas received his undergraduate education in Bamberg, Germany, and Bologna, Italy, and went on to complete a Ph.D. in economics at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. He is frequently quoted in the press and his academic work was published in the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Comparative Economics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, IMF Staff Papers, Emerging Markets Review, and the Review of Middle East Economics and Finance. Andreas is a member of the Atlantik-Bruecke, a non-profit association in service of German-American understanding.
