Nathan Flanders is a Managing Director and the global head of Fitch Ratings’ Non-Bank Financial Institutions and Fund and Asset Manager Ratings groups. His areas of oversight include ratings assigned to securities firms, finance and leasing companies, traditional and alternative investment managers, business development companies, financial market infrastructure companies, money market funds, closed-end funds and bond funds. Nathan was previously the U.S. head of Fitch’s Non-Bank Financial Institutions ratings group (2012-2016), the U.S. head of Fitch’s Fund and Asset Manager Ratings group (2008-2011), a senior member of Fitch’s U.S. Structured Credit group (2005-2008), a member of Fitch’s Financial Guarantors group (2003-2005), and a member of Fitch’s U.S. Asset-Backed Securities group (1999-2003). From 2009-2022, Nathan was also a member of Fitch’s Employee Benefits Committee, which was responsible for oversight of the company’s U.S. employee 401(k) plan. Nathan earned a B.A. in economics from Trinity College and an MBA from Columbia University, where he graduated as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. He is also a graduate of the Hearst Management Institute, the executive training program of Fitch's parent company, the Hearst Corporation.
