Katharina Sobczak is a Policy Advisor in the Regulatory Affairs Department at the IIF. She?will?initially focus on risk management including non-financial risks, operational resilience, cyber security and resolution.?

In the past, she worked with many leading organizations including the UniCredit Group, Moody`s Investor Service and UBS. She has extensive work experience in private companies, public sector organizations, and governments across Europe.

Over the last four years, Katharina served as a Senior Expert at the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) in Germany, where she worked in different capacities for the Department of Resolution Planning, responsible for?a portfolio of German banks under the direct remit of the SRB and less significant institutions.?In 2018, she was seconded to the European Central Bank (ECB), where she contributed?to the 2018 EBA EU-wide stress test, focusing on the top-down, model-based part of the quality assurance process and related model-based macroprudential analyses.

Prior to joining BaFin, Katharina worked as an Associate Director in the Finance Department at UBS, where she was a part of the CFO advisory team as well as at Moody`s Investor Service, where she had responsibility for ratings and research on regional and local governments and related issuers in German-speaking countries and Poland.

Education

Katharina holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Bielefeld. She is fluent in Polish, German, and English.
