Candice Reddy

Economist

Candice Reddy is an Economist in the Economic Research Department at the IIF. She is part of the CEEMEA team, with growing focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. Her primary responsibilities include macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, and reporting on South Africa, Nigeria, Russia and Ukraine. Since joining the IIF this year, most of her attention has been dedicated to research on the impact of sanctions on the Russian economy. She also contributes to CEEMEA publications and the IIF’s flagship Capital Flows report.

Ms. Reddy has more than nine years of experience as an Economist in both the public and private sector, with in-depth exposure to both fiscal and monetary policy. In her native country, South Africa, she occupied positions at the South African Revenue Services, with focus on macroeconomic and tax forecasting for individual provinces and the country. She also held an Economist position at one of the four major commercial banks in South Africa. The broad scope of her work at Nedbank has given her exposure to almost every segment of the economy. Her main responsibilities included macroeconomic analysis, industry research, and identifying trends in domestic and global markets. She was also responsible for the Bank’s inflation forecasting.

Education

Ms. Reddy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in Economics and Finance, a Bachelor of Commerce honors degree in Economics, and a Master of Commerce degree in Economics from the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.
