FRT Episode 57: Basel Committee Open Banking Report

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) published a new report on Open Banking and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) In November, and lead author Linda Jeng joins us to discuss the report’s key findings.

Formerly of the Federal Reserve and now at Georgetown University’s Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL), Linda explains the background to the report, highlights its informative analysis of the key security and liability issues, and provides an illuminating snapshot of the state of play across various jurisdictions.

We also discuss industry concerns on asymmetrical data flows between sectors, the potential ramifications for competition, and how this fits in the complex matrix of different supervisory mandates.
