FRT Episode 123: Discussing DeFi with Iota Nassr of the OECD

In this episode of FRT, Iota Nassr, Economist at the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), discusses decentralized finance (DeFi), why it matters, its institutionalization, and the implications of volatility in the market.

In January 2022, the OECD published a report titled "Why Decentralized Finance Matters and the Policy Implications". The OECD subsequently published a report titled "Institutionalisation of crypto-assets and DeFi–TradFi interconnectedness" in May 2022. As crypto and DeFi markets experience volatility and market players find themselves looking forward into an uncertain future, what observations can we make about market operations and fund flows? What lessons can we identify as we contemplate the benefits of crypto and DeFi to the future financial system and how best to integrate these capabilities with TradFi?

Jessica Renier, Managing Director of Digital Finance at the IIF, explores these questions and more in this latest episode of FRT, "Discussing DeFi with Iota Nassr of the OECD".
