Building on the tremendous success of the previously held Sustainable Finance Summits, we are pleased to host our flagship 2023 IIF Sustainable Finance Summit in Tokyo on April 5-6, 2023. We are delighted to have the support of the Japanese Financial Services Agency (JFSA), as well as the leading financial institutions in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, for what will be an important and timely event. IIF members are encouraged to register to join us in-person, however, for those unable to travel, we will also offer an opportunity to participate online.

Similar to peers across the globe, governments and businesses in Asia have pledged to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the coming decades. The region accounts for nearly half the world’s carbon emissions due to its diverse economies, rapid growth, and heavy reliance on fossil fuels, therefore a successful transition in Asia will be a critical element in the global fight against climate change. Managing climate risk and ensuring a policy and regulatory environment that enables transition finance opportunities—including the climate-resilient infrastructure and new green technology required—will be essential.  Due to Japan’s ambitious climate targets for 2030 and 2050 it has long been a global leader in energy efficiency and innovation, exceling in areas like hybrid electric vehicles, solar photovoltaics, smart grids, carbon-free fuels, and offshore wind. The 2023 IIF Sustainable Finance Summit will bring together policymakers, regulators, environmental experts, and global financial firms to discuss these critical issues impacting the industry. We hope you will be able to join us for this lively and impactful two-day event—we look forward to seeing you in Tokyo!
